چکیده

Drummond, Margaret C. (Emory University, Atlanta, Ga.) and Morris Tager. Enzymatic activities associated with clotting of fibrinogen by staphylocoagulase and coagulase-reacting factor and their inhibition by diisopropylfluorophosphate. J. Bacteriol. 83:975-980. 1962.-The chemical mechanism of fibrinogen clotting by staphylocoagulase and its plasma factor (CRF) involves a preliminary stage of proteolysis, analogous to that found in thrombin-catalyzed fibrinogen clotting. Coagulase-CRF also exhibits N-alpha-toluene-p-sulfonyl-l-arginine methyl esterase activity in addition to its fibrinogen-clotting and proteolytic activities. These enzymatic activities have been further studied by their responses to certain enzyme inhibitors, and from the standpoint of their possible interrelationships.

The Action of Crystalline Trypsin and Soybean Trypsin Inhibitor on the Clotting of Blood by Staphylocoagulase *

The mechanism of the coagulation of blood by staphylocoagulase and the relation of this process to physiological clotting present many unsolved problems. Evidence has been advanced for the concept that coagulase reacts with a plasma component (coagulase reacting factor CRF) which is distinct from prothrombin.5'4'1S1 The formation of an intermediate complex has been inferred from the shortening ...

Flavone Glucosiduronic Acids

Polylysine has been shown to possess various biological activities. It is bacteriostatic (Katchalski, Bichowski-Slomnitzki & Volcani, 1953) and virostatic (Stahmann, Graf, Patterson, Walker & Watson, 1951); it inhibits thromboplastic activity (de Vries et al. 1951), fibrinolysis (Ginsburg, de Vries & Katchalski, 1952), the proteolytic activity of pepsin (Katchalski, Berger & Neumann, 1954) and ...

Studies on the Coagulase-reacting Factor

Among the diverse views which have been advanced to explain the mechanism of the clotting of blood by staphylocoagulase, it has been suggested that coagulase acts directly on fibrinogen,4"3 or that it is a proteolytic enzyme,3 similar to trypsin, which activates prothrombin. Recently, however, the enzymic nature ofcoagulase has been questioned.12 Smith and Hale,' in a significant contribution, ...

Comparison of the affinities to bovine and human prothrombin of the staphylocoagulases from Staphylococcus intermedius and Staphylococcus aureus of animal origin.

Staphylocoagulases of Staphylococcus aureus (40 strains originally isolated from horses, dogs, cats, cows, sheep, opossums, pigs, humans, and a goat) and Staphylococcus intermedius (19 isolates from dogs and 1 pigeon strain) were tested for their affinity to prothrombins of either bovine or human origin. The tests used were the coagulase tube test (using human, bovine, or equine fibrinogen with...
